Three individuals are lucky to be uninjured after the plane they were traveling in crashed during landing near Knik Glacier, located 50 miles east of Anchorage. The group activated the SOS on their inReach device upon realizing that their aircraft had suffered significant damage, rendering it inoperable.
Search and Rescue coordinators at the IERCC contacted Matcom Dispatch who worked in conjunction with Alaska Rescue Coordination Center to send a helicopter to the group’s location. Two members of the group were taken to Mat-Su Regional Hospital for evaluation. The third member of the group was picked up by a good Samaritan and taken to a nearby airport with no injuries to report.
