Incident 66921 - A 39-year-old man is safe after an issue with his plane caused him to make an emergency landing in the Knik River, east of Wasilla, Alaska

A mechanical failure aboard a personal aircraft warranted an emergency landing on the Knik River, just east of Wasilla, Alaska.

After realizing that he was stranded in the middle of the river on his plane, the male pilot activated the SOS on his device.

Search and Rescue Coordinators at the IERCC received the SOS, and notified Wasilla dispatch. Jet skis, jet boats, and Rescue Coordination Center aircraft were all dispatched to the area and were able to rescue the male who was luckily uninjured.
