Incident 68031 - A Good Samaritan activates SOS for a 61-year-old female who fell 10 ft. while hiking

The 23-year-old female was on Wire Pass in Kane County Utah when she came across the injured hiker. The female had suffered a laceration to her head, and a significant knee injury, leaving her stranded and unable to contact anyone for help.

The 23-year-old was able to activate the SOS button on her inReach device and send a message to Search and Rescue (SAR) Coordinators at the IERCC. SAR Coordinators contacted Kane County Sheriff’s Office and notified them about the emergency. Kane County Sheriff’s Office sent out a rescue group who carried the female back to the Wire Pass trailhead where she drove herself to a nearby hospital.
