Incident 66214 - A man and his seeing eye dog became lost on the Appalachian Trail

A 29 year old and his seeing eye dog were rescued by Fannin County 911 after becoming lost on the Appalachian trail in Tennessee.

The duo had been hiking near the Long Creek Falls trailhead in the Blue Ridge Wildlife Management Area when the male realized that he had navigated away from the trail.

The male activated the SOS on his inReach device, which was received by the IERCC. Search and Rescue Coordinators at the IERCC contacted Fannin County 911 who dispatched a crew with a 4 wheeler that assisted the male and his dog to safety.
