An Italian man is recovering from frostbite on his after his group became stranded while hiking to the “Into the Wild” bus. “Alaska State Troopers say the five Italians were rescued Saturday from a camp they set up after visiting the dilapidated bus on the Stampede Trail near the interior town of Healy.

Incident 25527 - 70-Year-Old Living Off-Grid Rescued Again

After making international news with his rescue last year, Ken Smith went back to his daily life in a remote area of Scotland. Almost a year later to the day, Ken found himself pressing the SOS on his SPOT device again after sustaining injuries after a log pile collapsed on him. Upon receiving the SOS, Search and Rescue coordinators at the IERCC contacted the United Kingdom MCC who liaised with the Lochaber Mountain Rescue team to send a helicopter to help Ken.

Incident 25409 - 34 Year Old Male Rescued After Becoming Lost While Cross Country Skiing

After finding himself lost while cross country skiing solo in Ontario, 34-year-old Michale H. activated the SOS on his SPOT device. Search and Rescue coordinators at the IERCC contacted the Ontario Central Communications Center who dispatched two deputies and a search dog to the area. The search party was able to locate Michael and assisted him back safely to his vehicle.

Good Samaritan Assists Injured Motorcyclist

Incident 881631444856 - Motorcyclist Transported via Helicopter After Crash in California

A good Samaritan called for help via his Iridium Satellite phone after coming across a male that had sustained severe injuries from a motorcycle accident on Peace Valley Road in Gorman, CA. The Search and Rescue coordinators at the IERCC contacted a duty officer with the California Office of Emergency Services who dispatched the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office and fire department. A helicopter was dispatched to transport the male due to complaints of head and neck pain.

Stranded Snowmobilers Rescued

Incident 63394 — A group of snowmobilers were rescued near Big Sky, Montanna, after their machines got stuck.

When a man from Redstone, MT. and his group became stranded on their snowmobiles at Buck Ridge, the connection they had via their inReach device proved vital. After receiving an SOS from the group's device, search and Rescue coordinators at the IERCC contacted Big Sky Search and Rescue.
